Recently, a dramatic image of a white shark jumping out of water went viral as National Geographic’s “Photo of the Year”.
However, it now turns out that picture is fake and is not connected with the magazine.
Woah!! Photograph of the year 2016 by Bob Burton – Chief photographer of National Geographic / @NatGeo pic.twitter.com/ks5lqJwrde

In fact, the photo is a result of a series of computer generated stock images by Russian illustrator “Alexyz3d”, says this report in gizmodo.com.
Apparently this has started doing the rounds tonight. PSA: It’s fake. I can’t find a Bob Burton at Nat Geo either. pic.twitter.com/ew1qA78Owp

Apparently, the picture’s supposed author, Bob Burton is also a fake identity as nobody with that name works at National Geographic.
