Mad Max: Fury Road is a crazy movie, and by crazy, I mean brilliant. This author isn’t into labels and genres but if you pointed a gun to my head and asked me to place the film in a bracket, there’s a good chance I’d scream out ‘dystopian chase opera’ without thinking twice.
From its crazy stunts to Junkie XL’s adrenaline pumping OST, from the feminist message within the plot to the parallels between the fictional warboys and the real ISIS, a lot has been written about George Miller’s modern classic. Adding on to that, I’d also like to mention visual effects producers Alex Biknell and Fiona Crawford, visual effects supervisor Tom Wood and everyone in studios Kennedy Miller Mitchell, Iloura, Method Studios, Blackginger and The Third Floor. They took the raw footage shot in Namibia and Australia and added their magical touch to it. Dystopia never looked so beautiful.
Recently, an article on FXGuide written by Ian Failes , described how the final look of the film was achieved. We found some amazing photos there that showed the actual shots juxtaposed with the final shots we saw on screen.
If you want to pump it up a notch, listen to this track while checking out the juxtapositions below.
