It’s not just us humans who go through angst ridden growing up years. Before we even existed, volcanoes have been rocking pre-puberty angst like champs. They’re still doing it. This island off the coast of Japan, named Nishinoshima, has grown over 11 times its original size, thanks to recent volcanic eruptions.

In 2013, a new island named Niijima emerged next to Nishinoshima, due to underwater eruptions. Soon, the new island merged with its neighbour to form a much bigger version of Nishinoshima.

Here’s some footage of the island captured by the Japanese Coast Guard.
