Doctors do their best to save the lives of their patients. However, despite their best efforts, they can’t always save everyone. This photo, uploaded by Redditor NickMoore911 , shows the reaction of a coworker (they both work as EMTs), after he failed to save the life of a 19-year-old patient.
What makes this photo beautiful and sad at the same time, is how it shows that doctors, for whom saving lives is a “job”, still care about the people they deal with on a daily basis. People in the EMTs know how every second is precious and give their 100% to ensure the victims’ well-being. And yet, after all the effort, when a life cannot be saved, it hurts.

The man pictured was unable to save one of his patients. Though this is a common occurrence in our field of work, the patients we lose are typically old, sick, or some combination of the two. The patient that died was 19 years old, and for him, it was one of those calls we get sometimes that just hits you.
The next time you see a doctor, especially one who works in the emergency wing, know that there’s a person who actually cares.
