A school principal in China’s Guizhou province became a hero when, right at the last minute, he was able to pull back a school student who was standing on the edge of a 17-storey-building rooftop.

According to news reports, the girl is severely depressed and even told the firefighters to back off when they tried to talk her out of committing suicide.

That is when the principal came in, and on the pretext of offering the girl a bottle of water, pulled her back to safety at the right fraction of a second.

Here’s the video, that will make you heave a sigh of relief.

Turns out that China has a high rate of suicides among the youth. The pressure to perform well in school in a country where the education system places great emphasis on grades has been the cause of many children taking their own life.

Some introspection needed, China.
