In 1990, in the wake of the Persian Gulf War, a total of 111,711 Indian expatriates living in Kuwait had to be airlifted and evacuated to Mumbai, during the invasion of Kuwait. It was the largest civilian evacuation in history.

An Indian businessman Ranjit Katyal was the mastermind behind this evacuation of epic proportions, who with the help of the Indian government evacuated several Indians during the crisis. And who better than Akshay Kumar to play the role of this phenomenal personality who was responsible for saving thousands of lives. The feisty Nimrat Kaur plays the role of Ranjit Katyal’s wife.
