Here’s How You Can Boost Your WiFi Signals By Using Just An Empty Beer Can

SW Staff

Arguably, nothing irritates people more than a WiFi connection that works at the speed of a snail! WiFi signals show an inverse relation to distance, even more so when there are obstacles between the WiFi router and the device (phone, tablet, laptop). So what should you do when you’ve got to access internet in the bathroom, or perhaps in the garage which is a little far from the router?

Use this hack! Don’t worry, all you need is a pair of scissors, a can of beer, a razor knife and sellotape!

Here’s how you go about it:

Step 1: Drink it all up!

Well, the idea isn’t to get you tipsy, but to empty the can before it can be used as a booster! Remember to rinse the can and remove all the residue.

Step 2: Pull off the can’s tab

There isn’t any use for the tab, so you should do away with it.

Step 3: Cut the bottom end off completely, using a razor knife.

Step 4: Take your razor knife to cut around the top, leaving the part below the opening, attached.

Step 5: Take a pair of scissors and cut along the middle line of the can (vertically), all the way from the bottom to the top.

Step 6: Carefully open up the middle piece of the can by flattening it out till it vaguely resembles the shape of a radar dish.

Step 7: Put a little tape at the bottom and slide the whole arrangement on your wireless router’s antenna and you’re sorted!

Well, this hack is definitely a cool one and has actually shown an increase in signal strength by at least 2-3 bars! You can do this with any other can as well. I chose beer because who doesn’t enjoy a cold one in the heat?
