3. Go river rafting at the Teesta River.

Unleash your adventurous side by going for river rafting on Teesta River. The swirls, turns caused by the ever-changing terrain makes Teesta River ideal for rafting. Now, don’t be under the impression that rafting in this river will be easy. The rapids of Rangit and Teesta river are very challenging. The river flows through gorges and valleys that offer picturesque spectacles. If you want, you can also camp along the banks of River Rangeet, a tributary of Teesta River. 4. Go paragliding. 

The thought of wanting to have wings and fly has never really left our conscious. While it isn’t possible, you should try out paragliding in Gangtok. This adventure sport is quite popular among tourists. The best part is that you’ll get the breathtaking views of the Himalayas in the backdrop of nature. I can’t think of anything better than this. No, you don’t need to be a pro if you want to go for paragliding. Just so you know, the starting point for a medium fly (1400 m altitude, 5-10 mins) is Baliman Dara, and for a high fly (2200 m altitude, 20-30 mins) is Reshithang village.

5. Take a trip to the famous Nathu La Pass. 

If you really want to be spell bound by nature then take a trip to Nathu La Pass which is just 52 kms away from Gangtok. Visiting Nathu La Pass, located at a height of 14150 feet can be one of the most adventurous things to do in Gangtok. The journey in itself is nothing less than an adventure to remember and once you get there you’ll be welcomed by the stunning view of the snow-clad Himalayas. Just remember to carry a small oxygen cylinder with you because the oxygen level in this region is low. You’ll also need a Protected Area Permit issued by the Sikkim Tourism Department. Also, don’t forget to carry a ID proof and two passport size photos with you otherwise you won’t be allowed to enter Nathu La Pass.
