How A Class 12 Boy’s Lie About Rs 1.4-Cr Google Offer Turned Into A Govt Press Release

On Tuesday, several media outlets reported that a class 12 student from a government school in Chandigarh has bagged a Rs 1.4 crore job offer with tech giant Google. However, it has now been established that the news was false.

The reports said that a student of Government Model Senior Secondary School at Sector 33 was selected for graphic designing in which he’ll get Rs 4 lakh per month as stipend for a year. After the completion of his training period, he would get a monthly salary of Rs 12 lakh.

However, Google denied having any knowledge about XXXXX’s selection.

“Currently, we don’t have any information on our records with respect to XXXXX’s candidacy,” its spokesperson told ScoopWhoop News.

In media reports, the boy, who hails from Mathana in Haryana’s Kurukshetra district, had said that getting a job at Google was ‘dream come true’ for him and he was secretly trained by his uncle. He also said that he was scheduled to leave for California on August 7.

However, all the news reports were based on official press release by the Chandigarh Administration.

Even Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 33 had issued a press release regarding the same.

ScoopWhoop News tried to contact the office of Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director School Education but the official said that the matter cannot be discussed over phone. We also tried to get in touch with the school principal Indra Beniwal but got no response.

Swati Munjal, Public Relations Officer, Chandigarh Administration told ScoopWhoop News that the matter is still being investigated.

The school sent the information to govt without verifying claim

The school principal Indra Beniwal told PTI on Thursday that “XXXX’s parents have accepted that their son has committed a mistake (by claiming to have been selected by Google). However, she said the school authorities should have verified the claims before sending his details to the department for issuing a press note.

“We should have verified the documents,” Beniwal said. She said the UT education department has ordered an inquiry into the matter.

Beniwal said she had not been able to talk to the student since this matter came to light. “His mother told me that he was advised by doctors take rest as he was unwell,” she said.
