2020 has changed life as we know it. Most of us still continue to be homebodies taking care of every job from the comfort of our beds (and sweatpants).
So in these last eight months, we worked from home, worked-out at home, shopped (a lot!), caught movie premiers, arranged virtual dates, and even had a chance to run a marathon! Coz why not?
The Airtel Delhi Half Marathon finally happened and it celebrated our undying spirit of never giving up even in such difficult days. All thanks to Airtel and Procam for creating the ADHM app, using which we could run from anywhere across the country, from the convenience of our own location.
This has been a tough year and we’re all still not sure of stepping out of our homes. But this couldn’t stop us from participating in one of world’s most prestigious marathons right? Airtel along with Procam used technology and innovation for us to overcome the challenges and have a seamless participation experience even though we weren’t running with other fellow racers.
The ADHM app came with a timing and a distance tracker to rate our performance. In fact, it also had motivating commentaries from the legendary racer Tim Hutchings, author Rob Walker and Gautam Bhimani.
We could choose to participate as a group or an individual in any one of the three race categories – Half Marathon 21.09km, Open 10K, or the Great Delhi Run 5KMs. In fact, the participants also received a physical medal, a personalised e-certificate, and a personalised e-bib to cherish as a memento for participating in this unprecedented year. Check out just how huge this event really is every year.
And while we took part in the race from any place we wanted, there was an on-track marathon organised only for elite runners across the world. These athletes along with India’s finest racers graced the roads of Delhi on the last day of the marathon, which was on November 29th. They started from the iconic Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium and covered the original race route.
The fact that we didn’t have to compromise on our safety while participating in this marathon got us all excited for the event. And trust us, it was worth every drop of sweat.
