Twitter Brings In Two New Features To Try Curb Abuse

SW Staff

In a bid to give users a better experience, Twitter has rolled out some new features that will allow them to control notifications and see only ‘genuine’ tweets through a ‘quality filter setting’.

The micro-blogging website made the announcement on its official blog.

What’s new in it?

Twitter users can limit notifications to only those who they follow on mobile and on twitter.com by turning on the setting. However, the individual Twitter experience will continue unchanged.

The notifications settings can now be accessed from notifications tabs as well.

Quality Filter

This feature will show a new option to the notification settings as ‘quality filter setting’. The testing had begun last year, but it is being officially rolled out now. When turned on, the filter can improve the quality of Tweets by using a variety of signals, such as account origin and behaviour.

It will filter lower-quality content, like duplicate Tweets or content that appears to be automated, from notifications and other parts. It does not filter content from people or accounts followed by the users recently interacted with. Depending on preferences, users can turn it on or off in the notifications settings.
