Instant messaging service, WhatsApp has become a necessity in our everyday life, but what if we tell you that it may stop working in the near future? You might be scared, but the truth is if you are using an old smartphone, this nightmare might come true for you.

Wondering how old are we talking about? Well, according to WhatsApp support page, if you are still using a smartphone running iOS 8 or Android version 2.3.7, WhatsApp will not work on your device from February 2020.

The page says, “For the best experience, we recommend you use the latest version of iOS available for your phone. Please visit the Apple Support website to learn how to update your iPhone’s software.”

They further added, “We don’t explicitly restrict the use of jailbroken or unlocked devices. However, because these modifications might affect the functionality of your device, we can’t provide support for devices using modified versions of the iPhone’s operating system.”
