India won a record 7th SAFF Cup title in Trivandrum, Kerala, on Sunday, beating defending champions Afghanistan 2-1 after extra time. Skipper Sunil Chhetri scored the all-important winner which was also the 50th international goal of his career.

Among the many plaudits he received, there was a congratulatory tweet from the Indian cricket captain, Virat Kohli.

Chhetri immediately returned the favour with a tweet of his own.

With the football team winning trophies, the cricket team looking confident and the two captains so appreciative of each other, the future looks promising for India.
