Three men were arrested by Jadavpur police in Kolkata for allegedly attacking India cricketer Mohammed Shami on Saturday night, according to the Times of India.
The arrests were made after the cricketer filed a complaint with the police against the accused for manhandling his caretaker.
The altercation took place outside Shami’s apartment’s gate in Katju Nagar. While Shami waited for his caretaker to clear the way to the garage, three men started a fight over parking his car on the road. After which, the cricketer intervened to settle the matter.
The youth who were apparently inebriated left the spot only to return 15 minutes later. Not only did they create ruckus outside his residence, they also allegedly barged into his apartment. The issue was finally resolved after Shami called the cops.
The entire incident has been captured on CCTV and the police have booked the assailants under IPC sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 341.
Shami, who is part of Indian cricket team will be travelling to Sri Lanka as part of the 16-member squad for the three Test series which begins on July 26.
