On a day Virat Kohli made a stylish return from injury with 62 off 47 balls, the headlines belonged to two bowlers. RCB’s Samuel Badree and Gujarat Lions’ Andrew Tye made it a Good Friday to remember in IPL by taking hat-tricks in their respective matches.

West Indies bowler Badree took an excellent hat-trick at the beginning of Mumbai Indians chase in the first match of the day.

Bowling with the new ball, as he often does for West Indies, Badree got the wickets of Parthiv Patel, Mitchell McClenaghan and Rohit Sharma to complete a memorable hat-trick.

Patel hit a googly straight to Chris Gayle at short-cover. McClenaghan , promoted as pinch-hitter, hit a full toss to deep mid-wicket. And then with a peach of a googly, he sent back Rohit – who was clean bowled.

He finished with excellent figures of 4-1-9-4 but Mumbai Indians recovered from there to defeat RCB in a thriller, thanks to Kieron Pollard.

In the second match of the day, it was IPL debutant Andrew Tye’s turn to pick three wickets in three balls. This hat-trick came in the last over of Rising Pune Supergiant’s innings. The first was Ankit Sharma lofting it to long on, the second ball saw Manoj Tiwary hit it to deep mid-wicket. The hat-trick ball was a beautiful slower one that Shardul Thakur missed completely.
