Indian dairy giant Amul will be New Zealand cricket team’s prime sponsor in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy that starts on June 1 in England.

Asia’s largest milk brand had earlier sponsored Netherlands’ cricket team in the World Cup and the Switzerland-headquartered Sauber’s F1 team at the inaugural Indian Grand Prix in 2011.

The logo of the Gujarat based co-operative federation will appear on the sleeves of the team’s jersey in the tournament.

“We are excited about being associated with New Zealand cricket for the first time and Amul welcomes the Blackcaps to the family,” sais R S Sodhi, managing director of the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation, as reported by the Times of India.

The Kiwis who are ranked No. 4 in the ICC rankings for ODI teams are one of the favourites to win the Champions Trophy. The Amul logo will first appear in their friendly match against India on May 30.

Kiwi players Trent Boult, Tim Southee and Colin De Grandhomme unveiled the team jersey with Amul logo on it.
