KXIP Beat Royals In IPL 8’s First Super Over

Shaun Marsh made a perfect start to IPL 8 as he ensured that Kings XI Punjab are the first side to beat Rajasthan Royals this season, but not before the match went into the Super Over.

A great knock by Ajinkya Rahane (74 off 54) helped by breezy innings from Shane Watson (45) and Karun Nair (19) took RR to 191/7 as they were on course for their 6 th consecutive win.

But Marsh (65) playing his first game of the season ensured that the required run-rate never got out of reach. David Miller (54) also made a good contribution. KXIP needed 5 off the last ball and Axar Patel smashed a four to herald the Super Over.

In came Marsh and smashed three boundaries off Chris Morris to give the Royals a target of 16. Mitchell Johnson was the trusted man for Punjab and he gave away only 7 runs to clinch the cliffhanger.
