Virat Kohli became the first Indian to score a World Cup century against Pakistan. He was on fire in India’s 2015 World Cup opener against Pakistan, scoring 107 to help India post 300/7 after 50 overs.

This was Kohli’s 22nd ODI ton and he is now joint second with Sourav Ganguly with the most ODI centuries for India. Sachin Tendulkar holds the record with 49 centuries.

Overall, Kohli is 4th behind Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting and Sanath Jayasuriya.

But it wasn’t just Kohli scoring the runs against Pakistan. Opener Shikhar Dhawan was looking good on 73 before unfortunately getting run-out.

Later on, Suresh Raina joined Kohli and added 74. The duo shared a 3rd-wicket partnership of 110 which looked like taking the match away from the Pakistanis.

But just as India looked to be in the driving seat, Pakistan pacer Sohail Khan picked up 5/55 and made sure the target didn’t go out of reach. At the interval, Pakistan need 301 win to win and it is still anybody’s game. It remains to be seen how the Pakistani batting responds.

Remember, in 5 previous World Cup meetings, Pakistan has never beaten India.
