The Indian hockey team and Kidambi Srikanth saved the day for sports fans on an evening when Virat Kohli’s side succumbed to a rare defeat.
New Zealand defeated the ‘Men In Blue’ by six wickets in the first ODI at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. However, India’s hockey and badminton stars made it a Sunday to remember.
The Indian hockey team ended a 10-year wait for the Asia Cup as they beat Malaysia 2-1 in a thrilling final at Dhaka to lift their third continental title.
The last time India won the tournament was in 2007. They had also won it in 2003.
