Centuries from two flamboyant Delhi stars, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli, gave India an important first innings lead as they continued their stranglehold over Sri Lanka in the first Test at Galle.
India started the day on 128/2 and a crucial third-wicket stand of 227 between Dhawan (134) and Kohli (103) took India’s score to 375/10. T. Kaushal (5/134) was the best bowler for Lanka.
India got a decisive 192-run lead in which wicket-keeper batsman, Wriddhiman Saha (60), also played a crucial part.
Sri Lanka needed to bat-off 4 overs before the close of play on Day 2 and in the short time they lost both their openers cheaply and finished a miserable day at 5/2.
At stumps on Day 2, Lanka trail India by 187 runs with 8 wickets remaining.
