The Melbourne Cricket Ground is now the most successful venue for India in Australia, as India beat Australia by 137 runs on the fifth day of the third Test match.
After an all-out brilliant show by the team, India has managed to retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy, and take a 2-1 lead in the four-match series.

However, what is even more heartening for Indian cricket fans, is that this is only the second time that India has managed to win more than one Test match in a series in Australia.
After setting a record of 399 on the fourth day, India was quick to claim the final two wickets (in only 4.3 overs) in the last match of innings and Australia were rolled for 261.
While a bouncer by Ishant Sharma dismissed Nathan Lyon, bowler Jasprit Bumrah managed to cut short Pat Cummings’ innings.

With this, Bumrah also set a record for the best performance by an Indian bowler in Australia.
With this test win, India has 11 Test wins away from home under Kohli’s captaincy, same as Saurav Ganguly.
While Saurav Ganguly achieved this number in 28 matches, Kohli achieved the same feat in 24 matches.
The final Test of the series will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground on January 3.
