Former India Batsman Hemant Kanitkar Passes Away

Former India batsman Hemant Kanitkar passed away after prolonged illness at 72. He’s the father of Hrishikesh Kanitkar who also played as a batsman for India.

Though he just played 2 Tests for India, Hemant fared much better in the domestic circuit. After a century on his first-class debut for Maharasthra, he also topped the Ranji run-charts twice.

After retiring from first-class cricket in 1977-78, Kanitkar served as a coach and selector for Maharashtra.
