Eyeing her first title in 7 months, PV Sindhu lost to Akane Yamaguchi in straight sets at the Indonesia Open final, 2019.

The match that lasted 51 minutes, saw the Indian losing 15-21, 16-21 to the competitor she has defeated in the last 4 encounters. 

In total, she has beaten Yamaguchi 10 times out of 15 times they have faced each other and was a favourite going into the final.

However, Yamaguchi dominated her in almost every aspect and won possibly the biggest title of her career.

Victory or defeat, we are proud of the fact that Sindhu reached the final and hope she brings a medal home very soon.
