Just over a week ago, Syrian refugee Osama Abdul Mohsen was running from the police at a collection point in Hungary when a journalist stuck out a leg and purposely tripped him. He was fleeing, holding on to dear life and his 7-year-old son Zaid. The journalist’s act was condemned by millions around the world.

But the family made it to Madrid, ready for a fresh start. And Mohsen, with all the English he could muster, said: “Thank you all. This is very, very important for my life. Thank you very much.”

The news obviously made everyone feel happy for the family. And from there, things would only get better.

“In Syria we dreamed of seeing a Real Madrid match, and now that’s going to come true. I’m really happy, ” said Mohsen.

7-year-old Zaid had mentioned that he admired the Portuguese & Real Madrid star, Cristiano Ronaldo. And Madrid made sure that he got to meet him.

Not only this, he got a proper tour of Real Madrid’s home, the ‘Santiago Bernabéu’ stadium.

He got photos clicked with the entire Real squad.

And the cherry on the cake… He got to walk out to the pitch with Cristiano Ronaldo, for Madrid’s match against Granada.

The entire squad was wearing t-shirts signifying their support towards Syrian refugees.

Zaid proved to be a lucky charm as Madrid went onto win the game 1-0. Ronaldo may not have scored, but he certainly stole the show with his entry. Hats off to CR7 and the entire Real Madrid management.
