Chennai Down Self-Destructive RCB

Royal Challengers Bangalore have three of world’s best batsmen but they were still not good enough to chase Chennai Super Kings’ 148/9 and lost by 24 runs.

Mitchell Starc has been IPL’s most ruthless bowler and he tormented the CSK batting with figures of 3/24 but a crucial knock of 52 by Suresh Raina gave Chennai a respectable total.

In reply, RCB lost new-recruit Nic Maddinson (4) and their game-changer AB de Villiers (21) early. Virat Kohli (48 off 44) tried valiantly but to no avail.

The win has taken Chennai back to the top with 14 points and they are almost certain to finish in the top 2. RCB, on the other hand, are struggling to remain in the top 4.
