Mahmudullah Riyad, who starred in the win over England with his knock of 103, scored another century in the defeat to New Zealand. His unbeaten knock of 128 was not enough to beat the Kiwis but will give him a world of confidence ahead of the quarterfinal clash.

They may have lost to New Zealand but Bangladesh did not go down without a fight. The team has found form at the right time and will look to hit the ground running in their first-ever World Cup quarterfinal when they play at the MCG on Thursday, 19th March.

The last time the two teams met at the World Cup was in the 2011 opener in Mirpur. India beat the hosts by 87 runs, thanks to Virender Sehwag’s 175 and Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 100.

That match was Kohli’s World Cup debut. This one will be Bangladesh’s World Cup quarterfinal debut. Who dares win!
