Very often, the passion exhibited by players is matched by the spectators. Apart from the quality of the play on display, the venue also plays a major role in adding to the spirit of the sport.

1. Beijing National Stadium, Beijing, China

The stadium hosted the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

The Bird’s Nest, as it is popularly known, comprises of two separate structures, one is an 80,000-seater inner concrete bowl. And the other is a spectacular curvilinear outer steel shell that gives it the look of a bird’s nest. It was designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron and cost $480 million to be completed.

2. Newlands Cricket Stadium, Cape Town

The arena opened in 2005 and was the first to change colours, according to the team, that was playing. The police say, drivers usually get distracted seeing the panels change colours, while driving alongside the stadium.

The stadium hosted a Milan derby in 2015.

Although some people believe that its location, which is very close to an airport, offsets its charm, others say that a jet flying around only adds to the beauty of the place.

The city of Melbourne is home to some of the most iconic sporting arenas, including the Melbourne Park, the MCG and the Etihad Stadium. But if you go by the looks, none of those look as spectacular as the AAMI Park. The geodesic domed exterior is made of a unique ‘bioframe’ that required only half the steel required to make an equivalent structure of the same size, giving unhindered views from all of the 30,050 seats inside.

This is the largest stadium in Canada.

The exterior is made up of 4000 ETFE pillow segments. ETFE being a polymer that transmits more light than glass. The end result is a treat for the eyes.

Home to the English national soccer team, the Wembley’s famous arch stands above the stadium at a height of 436 feet, and its 1033-feet span makes it the world’s largest single-span roof configuration. It also hosted the final of the 1974 FIFA World Cup. The construction of the stadium was aided by the fact that its location had a huge pit thanks to a bombing during the Second World War.
