A rape case has been filed against Uttarakhand BJP leader Harak Singh Rawat on the complaint of a woman. The case against Rawat was lodged at Safdarjung police station in South Delhi. The victim has alleged that the former minister raped her at his Green Park residence, said a senior police officer.
Harak Singh was among the Congress leaders who had rebelled against Harish Rawat’s government in Uttarakhand and had joined the BJP in May 2016 along with several party MLAs.
However, this is not the first case where he got in such scandals. In 2014, a molestation case was filed against him police case against him by a woman, reports Hindustan Times.
In May 2016, Rawat along with 8 other Congress MLAs, rebelled against the Uttarakhand government, the rebel leaders led by former CM Vijay Bahuguna for which he was later expelled from Congress, reports Indian Express.
