With Tamil Nadu going to polls on May 16, rivalry among parties contesting elections is at its peak. But this political rivalry cost someone his life.

An ‘ardent’ supporter of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Raman, 40, committed suicide in his residence in Coimbatore district, allegedly because his wife and children attended a public rally of AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa, reported Times Of India

Police sources speaking to Times Of India said that he was taunted and teased by fellow party workers for letting his family members attend a rally organised by a rival party.

On Monday night, around 11 pm, he reportedly got drunk and fought with his wife over this issue. He locked himself in a room after his wife sent her children to sleep with their grandparents, and hanged himself.
