Kolkata-based NGO Goseva Parivar on Sunday organised an Ek Shaam Gau Mata Ke Naam (One Evening With Mother Cow ) to spread awareness about the importance of the cow. But it was also about awarding those who had won the #selfiewithgomata competition that it had organised earlier.

The NGO has conducted the contest on social media, ( Facebook, Twitter and Watsapp) between November 12- 20.  During their event on Sunday, the NGO distributed awards to the people who had sent in the best selfies, reported Hindustan Times

The NGO says it does not have any political or religious associations and works seeks to ensure the protection of cows.

Pankaj Choudhary, one of the winners of the contest, told Hindustan Times that he would recommend that everyone hugs a cow and takes a selfie at least once in their lives.

The NGO that has started the contest said that they were hoping to promote the fact that products made from cow-urine and other by-products was good for people, Business Standard reported.

Incidentally, most of the photos which the NGO have shared on their Facebook event page are very nice photographs, but aren’t selfies.
