This Is Not A Hoax: Facebook Finally Captures The Real Spirit Of Diwali

While a number of hoax images make their way to the social media year after year, or perhaps the same image every year, there is nothing that stops people from going crazy over a NASA image of India in Diwali proven to be fake. But as people keep believing almost anything they see on the social media with a celebrities name attached to it, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg wished Diwali with a rare picture .

The picture which was taken in Goa a few years back, shows Mark with wife Priscilla at a friend’s wedding. The founder of the social media giant mentioned that he missed being in India for Diwali, which comes as another of Zuckerberg’s statements expressing his admiration for the country.

As Facebook recorded 45 million unique people having 198 million interactions about Diwali in the last five days, India was followed by Guyana and Nepal in the list of countries with the highest number of posts about the festival of lights.

A fake picture claimed to be India on Diwali as pictured by NASA, has been doing the rounds on social media for past few years.

And this is the image of India that captures the real spirit of Diwali in India, as it indicates the number of people interacting and sharing joy on Diwali via Facebook. Higher the number of people talking about Diwali in a place, brighter the light that shines over it.

As everyone took to Facebook and reached out to the nation on the auspicious day, Zuckerberg said, “It’s the start of Diwali, the Festival of Lights when people light candles and fireworks to signify the victory of good over evil.”
