As organisations like the Islamic State creating havoc ind the Middle East with their extremist interpretation of Islam, perpetrating barbaric atrocities on women and keeping them as sex slaves has been seen as a part of their campaign.

Amid outrageous statements by fundamentalists, a so-called female scholar Saud Saleh from Egypt’s Al-Azhar university said that it is permissible for Muslim men to rape non Muslim women in times of war. She said that during a war, women from the enemy camp can be targeted for rape and sexual slavery, an outrageous argument used by extremists.

Failing to make any sense, Saud Saleh put up appalling arguments like, “The female prisoners of wars are ‘those whom you own.’ In order to humiliate them, they become the property of the army commander, or of a Muslim, and he can have sex with them just like he has sex with his wives.”

While rape cannot be justified by any argument, the Islamic State has been involved in slave trade, which is also a part of operations it uses for raising finances.
