From Nalasopara to Bhiwandi, Vikhroli to Aarey Colony, Bandra to Kandivali, photos of the suburbs of Mumbai are now part of a unique portrait collection. These photos are unique because the 24 black and white photographs have been captured at an altitude of 15,000 ft above the sea level.
These aerial pictures of of Mumbai’s suburban geography, captured by Robert D Stephens, are an invitation to reflect on the transitions taking place in Maximum City and are part of an event titled ‘Mumbai North’.
The project was conducted in collaboration with the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board and also measured air pollution levels on the corresponding day.
Here are nine of the 24 pictures.
In association with ARTISANS’, these images will be exhibited in Artisans gallery Mumbai from January 8 to January 16.
