Mysterious 11,000 Years Old ‘Shigir Idol’ Statue Is Twice As Old As The Pyramids

Did you know that something more ancient than the Pyramids of Egypt existed on Earth? Well, a wooden statue is, according to a new analysis of the ancient artefact first found some 125 years ago in a peat bog of Ural Mountains in Russia.

According to experts, the artefact, covered in ‘encrypted code’, which is believed to be a message from a lost civilisation, is by far the oldest wooden sculpture in the world.

Russian experts think the ciphers in the statue may decode belief systems of people during that age which can be similar to those written in the Bible’s Genesis.

“The ornament is covered with nothing but encrypted information. People were passing on knowledge with the help of the Idol,” said Professor Mikhail Zhilin of the Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of Archaeology as mentioned in a Yahoo News report.

Firstpost reported that the idol is twice as old as the Pyramids and Stonehenge, which thereby makes it the oldest wooden sculpture in the world.

When the idol was discovered in 1890, it was considered to be 9,500 years old. However, researchers in Mannheim, Germany after using sophisticated technologies like Accelerated Mass Spectrometry, found that it was 11,000 years old. That means the sculpture dates from the very beginning of the Holocene epoch – the era when man rose to dominate the world.
