An anonymous person, unhappy with the coverage of women in sports on BBC, sent a shockingly sexist letter to the presenter who wrote a column on sportswomen.

Emma Barnett, who presents BBC Radio 5 Live’s Hit List show on Sundays, posted a picture of the letter sent to her which harps on the same old ‘women should be in the kitchen’ ideal, The Independent reports.

According to the report, the letter was in response to Barnett’s column she wrote the previous week, in which she highlighted the failure on the part of media and sponsors towards coverage of women’s sporting events.

In turn, she was subjected to this feedback letter.

In her column, Barnett wrote that “Women’s sport is stuck in a horribly vicious circle. The media don’t give it enough attention, as they don’t believe there is the interest.”

As irony may have it, she received the sexist response soon after. But Twitter has taken note of the matter and widely condemned the man who sent it. In the letter, the anonymous individual labelled women’s sport “a joke” involving “pony tails swaying, tits bouncing.”

Here’s the full text of the letter: “No one wants to watch women’s sport love, it’s a joke, pony tails swaying, tits bouncing, come on on get serious. Put em back in the kitchen where they belong and leave sport to the warriors of the species not the dykes.”

The Independent report confirmed that the letter arrived with no name or details of the person who signed it.
