Rapper Hard Kaur Charged With Sedition For Posts Against Yogi Adityanath & RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat

UK-based rapper Hard Kaur was booked under several charges for her posts on social media against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat.

According to reports, the complaint was filed by Varanasi lawyer Shashank Shekhar under IPC Sections 124A (sedition), 153 (promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion), 500 (defamation) and 505 (intent to incite), and Section 66 of the IT Act.

Kaur has made remarks against the two on Facebook as well as Instagram, calling Adityanath a ‘rape-man’ and blaming the RSS for the death of Hemant Karkare, who was killed fighting terrorists during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. 

Shekhar, who is also a member of the RSS, has mentioned in his complaint that he was ‘deeply hurt’ by Kaur’s comments.

The investigation is being handed over to Crime Branch’s Surveillance Cell, a police officer was quoted telling Amar Ujala.
