Tanmay Shekhawat just cracked the IIT-JEE Advanced exam and was ranked 11 in India. Of course he must be on cloud 9! What more could he want? A shiny car perhaps? Well now he’s got one.

Impressed by the excellent performance, the coaching institute in the Sikar district of Rajasthan where he studied, has reportedly gifted him a BMW car.

“The director (of the institute) had announced that whoever achieves a rank under 20 in the IIT-JEE Advanced, will get his BMW. He kept his promise,” an elated Shekhawat told Hindustan Times.

The vehicle which is worth Rs 27.5 lakhs was originally bought by the director of the Samarpan coaching institute, Dr RL Poonia and has travelled 1,500 kms since it was bought about a year ago.

While the reward is perhaps disproportionate to the achievement of the boy, it is suspected that the gift may just be a ploy to advertise the coaching institute’s achievement and lure more students.

However, despite the generous gift, the student has a long way to go. After having scored 291 in the entrance exam, Shekhawat now wants to pursue Computer Science in IIT Bombay.
