PM Modi Reveals PMO Is Running An ‘Archaeology Dept’ To Dig Out Lost Files Of Stalled Projects

Showing concern over incomplete projects that has increased the burden on the Centre, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has revealed that PMO is running an archaeology department to dig out all the files of developmental projects that went missing in last 30 to 40 years.

Speaking during Parivartan rally in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, PM Modi said, “When I became the Prime Minister, I never imagined that the PMO will have to start a new department. I had to start an archaeology department,” reports Economic Times.

He further informed many projects which were initiated ages ago, of which only foundation stone were laid, either remained in a state of status quo or their files were lost.

Citing the example of Nangal Dam-Talwara railway project, PM Modi said that the work was initiated in 1981 but there was no progress since then.

He said that the delay in the 35-year-old project with an initial budget of Rs 34 crore, will now cost Rs 2100 crore to the government.
