PM Modi Plays Traditional Tanzanian Drums Like A Pro, Wows His Audience

Life is not just all about hard work, but also about having fun, and this seems to be Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra. He indulged in a jugalbandi of sorts on traditional drums with Tanzanian President Dr. John Magufuli in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

Modi initially observed Magufuli while trying his hand at the drums, but within a few seconds he caught the rhythm and then belted it out like a pro. The duo even played off each other in the latter part of the video, before receiving a huge applause from the audience.

This isn’t the first time Modi has shown off his drumming skills. While the Indian Prime Minister toured Japan in September, 2014, he showcased great energy and enthusiasm while drumming alongside a Japanese percussionist in Tokyo.

Modi is on five-day, four-nation tour aimed at enhancing ties with the African continent, particularly in the economic sphere. He visited Mozambique and South Africa before arriving in Tanzania late Saturday night. He will also visit Kenya.

The focus of the African tour is on deepening cooperation in areas of hydrocarbons, maritime security, trade and investment, agriculture and food.
