A week after Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said Goans were unhappy with the “attitude” and the lifestyle of Nigerians in the state, former Goa Chief Minister Ravi Naik of the Congress on Tuesday said that the Central government should ban Nigerians from entering India.

According to an IANS report, Naik referred to Nigerian nationals as “negroes”, and said they “should be chased out of India.” He also alleged Nigerians have been causing “problems” in Goa as well other metros.

“The government of India should ban them. They should be probed. It should be checked whether they are here to study or for picnic or to sell drugs,” Naik told reporters in Goa on Tuesday.

Demanding an investigation into the activities of Nigerian tourists in India, Naik also alleged that Nigerians come to India in the garb of students.

“They create problems everywhere… We do not want Nigerian tourists,” he said.

Last week, Goa’s tourism minister Dilip Parulekar had said that Nigerians are not just the problem in the state but across the country.

“They come here to study, but purposely commit offence, get an FIR registered against themselves and impending judicial proceedings prolong their stay in the country,” he had said.
