Sad How We Live In A Country That Thrashes A Farmer For His Loan While A Mallya Manages To Escape

As Vijay Mallya’s escape from the country, despite being a defaulter with a CBI look out notice against him, has triggered off a heated debate in the parliament, an incident in Tamil Nadu shows the double standards of dealing with defaulters.

While the government is facing flak for not arresting Mallya earlier, the SC also pulled up banks for granting loans to a defaulter. While Mallya owes close to a billion dollars to banks, a farmer owing Rs 1.3 lakh for a tractor was brutally beaten up by the police for failing to pay installments on his loan.

The manner in which the authorities have dealt with these two cases shows how the law goes soft on the rich in society.
