Teen Accused In Delhi Mercedes Hit-And-Run Has Got Bail So He Can Write Entrance Exams

The 17-year-old boy who was involved in the Delhi Mercedes hit-and-run case in which 32-year-old Siddharth Sharma lost his life has been granted bail so that he can take exams.

The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) allowed the Class 12 student to take college entrance exams after a personal bail bond of Rs 5000 was furnished.

The news comes a week after he was denied bail after it was found that he was a repeat offender who was involved in such similar accidents multiple times.

His father was arrested on April 9 under the charge of abetment leading to culpable homicide not amounting to murder as the court had held him responsible for allowing his underage son to drive, but was later released on bail.

If the juvenile is held guilty by the court, he would be sent to a juvenile home for two years. Sharma’s parents have been demanding that he be tried as an adult so he cannot ‘get away with lighter punishment’ just because he was a few days short of becoming an adult on the day of the crime.
