Andaman And Nicobar Islands Hit By Minor Earthquake, No Damage Reported

A moderate earthquake measuring 5.4 magnitude hit the Andaman Island region at about 2.29 PM on Friday, May 1, 2015.

The depth of the earthquake was measured as 10 kms, IMD according to a statement. Reports of damage to property or life have not been received so far, it said.

The earthquake comes within a week of the high intensity 7.9 magnitude quake that hit Nepal and adjoining areas including parts of India last Saturday.
