It’s Raksha Bandhan time and siblings around the nation are celebrating a day when brothers make a special promise to their sisters. This is one of those occasions, when we get to see our politicians, just like us, share a special day with their loved ones.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is also widely referred to as Narendrabhai , also celebrated this day with Indian citizens. He shared pictures on Twitter, being the social media-savvy leader that he is.

Amidst Twitter flooding with wishes from political leaders like Arvind Kejriwal and Rahul Gandhi, Sushma Swaraj tied a rakhi on Venkaiah Naidu’s arm, who has stood by her through various storms as a party colleague.

Celebrities too decided to share their moments on Twitter and let their fans be a part of their special day:

And then there was Nitish Kumar, who tied a rakhi to a tree to create environmental awareness:

Ex-servicemen on Jantar Mantar too celebrated the special bond:

Perhaps, some Indo-Pak friendship on display as well

Meanwhile, Chetan Bhagat had some piece of advice only he could come up with:

We wish India a happy Raksha Bandhan and hope that our leaders will be able to ensure the safety of all Indians beyond party lines, just as they celebrated this day.
