Kya Hua Tera Wada: Twitter In Frenzy As Jio Decides To Start Charging For Calls To Other Networks

Reliance Jio had launched its services in 2015 and with its 4G cellular network, the company brought a revolution in the industry by providing unlimited access to its users. However, the telecom company has announced it will start charging six paise per minute from its users.

ABP News

The company claimed that the new voice charges are implemented because of the Interconnect Usage Charge rate that has been fixed by TRAI for telecom operators enabling inter-networking outgoing calls. As a result, Jio subscribers are required to buy an add on IUC top-up voucher to call on other networks.

Jio top-up voucher rates

To make things easy and straightforward, the company is providing some top-up vouchers that will enable you to make calls on other networks. The first and cheapest plan is priced at ₹10 and will give you 124 minutes along with 1GB 4G data. The second voucher is priced at ₹20 and will enable you to call for 249 minutes and use 2GB data.

If you require more minutes, you can buy a ₹50 voucher which will give you 656 minutes and 5GB of high-speed data. For extensive outgoing calls, you can buy a ₹100 voucher which will get you 1362 minutes to talk and 10GB of data to use. Also, the new top-up vouchers don’t include a separate validity.

The six paise per minute charge will apply only on the voice calls that are made to other mobile networks like Airtel or Vodafone. This means that all the calls made from Jio to Jio calls and Jio to landline calls are still free.

Reliance has issued a statement saying, ‘If you have recharged on or before 9th October, you can continue enjoying free call benefits (even to Non-Jio Numbers), until your plan expires.’
