The mortal remains of captain Pawan Kumar, 23, who died fighting terrorists in Pampore in J&K, couldn’t be brought by road to his home to his village in Jind, Haryana. All because the Jat protesters who are seeking reservation had blocked roads across the state, as reported by The Indian Express.

The army reportedly made several pleas to the agitators to allow Kumar, also a Jat, to give a “befitting farewell to this brave son of their soil”, but the agitators refused to lift the blockades.

The braveheart eventually had to be flown in amidst the chaos. His last rites will be performed on Monday.

“The mortal remains of the brave martyr will be transported by air to Jind on February 22 as road traffic is disrupted due to the law and order situation in Haryana. The last rites with full military honours is being planned by the Army and state administration at his village on Monday. The Army appeals to the people of Haryana to extend their full support in giving a befitting farewell to this brave son of their soil,” the Army said in a statement on Sunday, as reported by The Indian Express.

Some took to twitter to express their anger against this ‘shamelessness’.
