Police said he helped the militants in the recent ATM robberies and was also involved in immoral activities.

“Sandeep was in the same house where dreaded Lashkar militant, Bashir Lashkar took shelter. He was in the valley since 2012,”  Inspector General of Police, Munir Khan told ANI.

According to a report by The Indian Express, Sandeep was also a part of the LeT group that attacked a police patrol and killed six security personnel, including SHO Firoz Dar. He was recruited by the Lashkar because they wanted a non-local to carry out their activities.

Sandeep was apprehended on July 1 during a live encounter with a notorious militant Bashir Laskri. However, his presence in the same house where a militant was residing raised suspicion as Sandeep was a non-local. After further investigations, it was later found that he was a key Lashkar aid.

Sandeep used to work as a welder in the Valley and during winters he used to go to Punjab for employment. In Patiala, he came in contact with Shahid of Kulgam and started carrying out criminal activities. He later joined got involved in all kinds of robberies, including ATM looting in South Kashmir, reports Tribune.
