The Indian Space Research Organisation has successfully launched Chandrayaan-2 into Earth’s orbit. This was India’s second moon mission. A week after the launch was delayed due to technical difficulties, the ₹978 crore mission Chandrayan-2 was launched today from Sriharikota.

Chandrayaan-2, which aims to explore the unchartered Lunar south pole, was launched using ISRO’s most powerful rocket, GSLV-Mk0III-M1.

The successful launch makes India the fourth country, after the US, Russia, and China, to pull off a soft landing on the moon.
