‘Dabangg’ IAS Officer Gets Notice For Wearing Sunglasses As He Met PM Modi

An IAS officer in Chattisgarh, Amit Katariya, has been sent a notice by the state government for wearing sunglasses while receiving Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on his recent visit to the Naxal affected region on May 9.

“The act (wearing sunglsses) [sic] is in violation of the Section 3 (1) of the All India Services (Conduct) Rules, 1968,” the notice reads.

It also says “the state government warns you that do not do any such act in future which is not in accordance with the dignity of an officer All India Services.”

According to the local media reports, on meeting him PM Modi said, ” Mr Dabangg Collector, how are you?”

This sparked off a controversy about his dress code while receiving VVIP guests. Katariya also posted a picture of shaking hands with Modi, on Twitter.

Chattisgarh’s Chief Minister Raman Singh has turned down all the controversies saying that the officer has been warned of his dress code, no other action has been taken.
