Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presented the Union Budget 2016-17 in Parliament on Monday. Jaitley laid out the 9 pillars of the budget namely agriculture & farmer welfare, rural sector, social sector, skill developement, infrastructure, financial services reforms, tax reforms, fiscal discipline.

Jaitley unveiled a pro-poor budget in a bid to to shun the anti-poor, pro-businessmen image that the government suffered, with the opposition on numerous occasions putting the centre on the mat on this issue.
